This past Monday was my first time airing the weekly Love & Marriage segment on Fox 8?s new set. Wow, I was really impressed with the design, color scheme, and high tech lighting. Apparently, it’s been about 10 years since there’s been a change. What a makeover!

You’re Kidding Me, Right?

If you’ve read the Forum section of Tuesday, July 17th’s Plain Dealer, you may have seen an editorial by James Andrew Miller called “Preparing for a Broken Home.” Mr. Miller sites several examples of couples he knows who spent a good amount of time and energy on their pre-nuptial agreements. He says it is sadly clear to him that for all of these couples’ efforts at dividing up their assets ahead of time, they neglected the most important point of all – dividing up the children! Mr. Miller advocates drawing up a pre-nup outlining custody guidlines for children who haven’t yet been born, named, or conceived.

Admittedly, I’m not that keen on pre-nups to begin with, unless they are attached to an estate plan that involves children brought in from a previous marriage. To put in writing how to divide up a child’s time between a mother and father who aren’t married or parents yet strikes me as ludicrous. I’d love to know what you think!

The More the Merrier at Q104!

A couple of Thursdays ago, my daughter, Katie, came into the studio for Relationship Thursday and brought some of her friends. All between the ages of 19 and 24, they had a spirited (sometimes on-air) discussion about a variety of relationship topics. Rob Kruz was, as always, a gracious host as different opinions got bantered back and forth. It was great fun!

Dance – Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway!

My husband and I are now in our third month of dancing lessons and we are loving it! We met dancing back in 1982 when I was a dancer in a 1940’s revue called “Stompin’ at the State” at the State Theater in downtown Cleveland. My job was to pull men from the audience and dance with them. Guess who I chose to dance with one night? That’s right, my future husband.

Twenty-five years later, we’ve decided to pick up where we left off the night we met. For all you men and women out there who are afraid to step out onto the dance floor, I highly recommend you take a few dance lessons. You can take private or group sessions and within twelve weeks, you’ll have the basics down to help you feel confident enough to dance in any venue. Don’t resign yourself to a lifetime of toe tapping – go out there and learn to ”cut a rug!”
