Nice Touch at Wedding
My husband and I attended a wedding last weekend in Chicago and it was just lovely. Held in a church, it had all of the traditional elements: the beautiful bridesmaids, the classical music, and the bubbles to shower over the married couple as they exited the church. One thing this couple did was particularly touching and quite practical. Instead of having a receiving line after the ceremony, where each guest is required to shake the hands of five bridesmaids and groomsmen they have never met and most likely will never again see, this couple stopped at every pew and hugged and thanked each guest before he or she walked down the aisle to leave.
We delighted in seeing the bride and groom’s gratitude as they embraced each friend or family member. Once they arrived at our pew, it was our chance to feel a personal connection to them as they welcomed us and thanked us for joining them on their wedding day.
This personal touch to the ceremony went well because there were only 50 or 60 people in the church. If there had been 100 or more, this personal touch wouldn’t have been feasible. If you and your mate are getting married and you’ll be having a small wedding, think about possibly incorporating this connection to your guests. It was a gift to us!
